A first home buyer grant, also known as a first home owner grant, is a form of financial help available to Australians who are looking to buy their first home. Criteria For The First Time Homeowner GrantThis is not an exhaustive list of the necessary criteria, but it will give you an idea if you might be eligible. First, you and your spouse must not have received this grant before which makes sense because you must be first time home buyers. One of the people applying for the grant must be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia. You need to meet the minimum age requirements as they have been dictated by the States and Territories. Finally, at least one of the persons applying for this grant must make this home their principal place of residence in a continuous manner for at least 6 months. First Home Owner BoostThe First Home Owner Boost can receive this boost of an additional $7,000 that will increase the total amount you may receive to $14,000. First time home buyers who go the route of building their own home or buying a recently built home can expect even more. They may be able to receive a total of $21,000. This is a hefty incentive for someone to build a home or to buy one.The First Home Buyer Grant seeks to help first time home buyers to find and purchase homes.
